Mike composed Tubular Bells a lot time before. In 1971 he recorded the famous demo (now it is available in the DVD Tubular Bells 2003). And a lot of parts of the album were composed in the 60's. Christian Vander only wanted money. ;)

You're certainly right with the dates. However, Christian Vander composed Mekanik in 1971 too. But Mike couldn't have heard the piece before composing Tubular Bells, so it's not a plagiarism, but it is what Christian Vander claims. And it is funny that they met at the Manor the same time they were recording a similar tune.
Christian Vander did not sue Mike Oldfield on justice. It's unfair to say he just wanted the money.

Sorry, i thought Vander sue Mike Oldfield on justice. Really they are not similars tunes altough the piano sound very similar in the begining. However the opening theme from Tubular Bells was recorded in 1971. Vander says he composed Mekanik in 1971 too, but there not sonorous testimony to try it.

there is a recording testimony of Mekanik from 1971 : Seventh Records did release a concert from november 1971 which contains the first version of "Mekanik" it's on "Concert 1971 - Bruxelles, Théâtre 140".
Anyway, I doubt Magma and Oldfield crossed their way from 1971 to 1973, the similarity (some may find this similarity obvious, others not) must simply be a coincidence.

Ohh! That's curious! Anyway it must be a coincidence!
